What Is EpicLoot?

EpicLoot adds enhanced items to the game — weapons, tools, and armour that drop with special buff sets and bonus stats. These items are colour-coded by rarity and can be found in crates, looted from NPCs, earned from boss kills, or even crafted by chance.

Each enhanced item belongs to a buff set (like Miners, Lumberjacks, Hunters, etc.). Wearing or equipping multiple pieces from the same set unlocks set bonuses — powerful passive effects that stack as you collect more matching pieces. Items you don't want can be scrapped into Epic Scrap, a special currency used to manually enhance gear of your choice.

Rarity Tiers

Every enhanced item has one of four rarity tiers. Higher rarity means stronger buff values and more Epic Scrap when scrapped.

Enhanced items can drop from many sources across the map. Higher-tier crates and NPCs have the best odds.

💡 Hackable crates (Oil Rig, Cargo Ship) are by far the best source at 50-60%. If you're farming EpicLoot, focus your runs there.

VIP Find Rates

Higher VIP ranks get a small boost to finding enhanced items in crates. VIP ranks also unlock the ability to craft enhanced items by chance.

These are all the buff sets active on Markiii-Rust. Each set has a per-item buff that scales with rarity, plus set bonuses that unlock at 2, 4, or 6 matching pieces.

Don't want an enhanced item? Scrap it for Epic Scrap — a custom currency you can use to manually enhance any compatible item with the buff set of your choice. You can also recycle enhanced items in the recycler for Epic Scrap (no components returned).

💰 It costs 100 Epic Scrap to enhance any item with any buff type. Choose wisely — that's roughly 4 Legendary scraps or 12+ Uncommon scraps.

Tips & FAQ

Equip multiple items from the same buff set (e.g. 2 Lumberjack items, 4 Lumberjack items, etc.) to unlock set bonuses. Bonuses stack at 2, 4, and 6 pieces. The items can be any mix of weapons, tools, and armour — they just need to be from the same set.

When items drop from crates or NPCs, the buff is random. However, if you have 100 Epic Scrap, you can manually enhance any compatible item with the exact buff set you want using the Inspector UI (/el).

Yes — but only if you have VIP rank or higher. There's a 2% chance per craft that your item will become enhanced. Default players cannot craft enhanced items. Certain basic items (hammers, bows, primitive weapons) can never be enhanced.

You receive Epic Scrap based on its rarity tier (8–25 ES). You can also recycle enhanced items in a recycler — you'll get Epic Scrap but no regular components. Save up 100 ES to enhance a specific item.

Sets like Assassins, Demo, Elemental, Knights, Barbarians, Medics, Reinforced, and others are disabled because they're either PVP-focused (not useful on a PVE server) or would be overpowered. The 13 active sets are curated specifically for the Markiii PVE experience.

It depends on your playstyle. Lumberjacks and Skinners are incredible for resource gathering with instant-chop and instant-skin at 4 pieces. Scavengers is great for barrel/crate runs with loot magnet at 6 pieces. Hunters boosts animal damage. Operators boosts NPC damage. Fishermans gives underwater breathing and rod strength.

Enhanced items follow normal durability rules. They can be repaired as usual. The enhancement and buff set persist through repairs — you won't lose your buffs.
