What Is ChickenPet?

ChickenPet is a custom Markiii-Rust plugin that lets you adopt a chicken companion. Your chicken follows you around the map, teleports to you if it gets too far behind, and provides real passive bonuses — healing, extra max HP, radiation resistance, and even a chance to save ammo.

Adopt your chicken by spending 250 Epic Scrap, then keep it alive by feeding it more Epic Scrap over time. While your chicken is active and fed, you receive all bonuses automatically. Upgrade its skills to make the bonuses even stronger.

🐔 Your chicken is invulnerable — it can't be killed by players, NPCs, or the environment. It's purely your little buddy running around behind you, buffing you up.

How to Get Your Chicken

Type /pet in chat. If you don't own a chicken yet, the purchase screen appears. It costs 250 Epic Scrap to adopt. Once purchased, your chicken spawns next to you immediately and the full GUI opens with all your controls.

After that first purchase, typing /pet always opens the pet management GUI where you can see your chicken's status, feed it, spawn/despawn it, and upgrade skills.

💡 Your chicken automatically spawns when you log in and despawns when you log out. You can also manually put it away and call it back via the GUI.

Passive Bonuses

While your chicken is out and fed (not asleep), you get these bonuses automatically:

Heal Over Time Passively heal 1 HP every 5 seconds. Upgradeable up to 6 HP per tick with skill levels.

Max HP Boost Base +2 max HP (102 total). Upgrade the Vitality skill for up to +12 max HP (112 total).

Radiation Resistance Reduces radiation buildup passively. Helpful when running monuments without full rad gear.

🎯

Ammo Scavenger 1% chance per shot to refund a bullet back into your magazine. Requires the skill unlock.

⚠️ All bonuses are removed instantly when your chicken falls asleep (hunger hits zero) or is despawned. Feed it regularly to keep the benefits active!

The Hunger System

Your chicken runs on a life timer that drains in real-time — 1 second per second, even while you're offline. When the timer hits zero, your chicken falls asleep and all bonuses stop. Feed it Epic Scrap to refill the timer.

Feed your chicken through the GUI (open with /pet, go to the Actions tab) or with /petfeed. You can feed 1, 10, 50, or all your Epic Scrap at once. The GUI shows exactly how much time you have left.

Skill Upgrades

Your chicken has 3 upgradeable skills, purchasable with Epic Scrap through the Skills tab in the pet GUI:

To max all skills you'd need 1,500 Epic Scrap total (750 for Heal, 500 for Vitality, 250 for Ammo). Skills persist across sessions but reset on wipe.

Commands

Chat Commands

/ pet

Open the pet GUI. If you don't own a chicken yet, shows the purchase screen (250 Epic Scrap).

/ petname <name>

Rename your chicken (max 24 characters). Example: /petname Sir Clucks-a-Lot

/ petfeed

Feed all your Epic Scrap to your chicken. Add a number to feed a specific amount, e.g. /petfeed 10

💡 Most actions (spawn, despawn, feed, upgrade skills) are done through the /pet GUI — you rarely need the chat commands directly. The GUI has clickable buttons for everything.

Tips & FAQ

No — your chicken is invulnerable and cannot take damage from anything. It can fall asleep if you don't feed it, but it never actually dies. Just feed it Epic Scrap to wake it back up.

Yes — the timer drains in real-time, including when you're logged out. If you go offline for 30 minutes with a full timer, it'll be at zero when you return. Feed your chicken before logging off, or accept that it'll be asleep when you come back.

That's your pet status HUD. It shows your chicken's name and remaining life timer at a glance. Click it to open the full pet GUI. If your chicken is asleep, the bar changes colour to let you know.

Epic Scrap drops from various PVE activities on the server — raiding, looting, killing NPCs, and completing events. It's the custom currency used across multiple Markiii-Rust systems.

No — all pet data resets on map wipe. You'll need to purchase a new chicken and re-upgrade your skills each wipe. This keeps the progression fresh.

Your chicken is probably asleep (hunger at zero). Open /pet and check the life timer. If it's empty, feed it Epic Scrap and it'll wake right up and start following you again.

With the Ammo Scavenger skill, every shot you fire has a 1% chance to put a round back into your current magazine. You'll see a chat message when it triggers. It works with all firearms.
